new apron for a friend

Hi. Remember me? I used to write blog posts for this blog. I used to get a lot more done and life didn't seem as chaotic as it does right now. But, I think I am ready for some changes and ready to dive in to some Christmas projects. I did manage to get this apron made for friend for her birthday. I got the pattern from Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing that I picked up Half Price Books (one of my favorites) for $10. I like how this apron fits and it's reversible. I just beefed up the width of the straps and lengthened them so that they would be long enough to tie in a bow around the front. No pockets. I can't decide if pockets are necessary on an apron or just cute. Are they worth the extra effort? I don't think I use my pockets on the aprons I wear. Just me thinking out loud. Oh, does any one have a Christmas project that they are excited about this year? Just trying to get the wheels moving.

Yes I remember you!! I found some cheap but pretty post-it note pads at a bookshop and I'm going to make little fabric folders for them to sit in. Just what everybody needs in their Christmas stocking I think! [as a bonus I think I can make them very quickly!!]

I love the apron! I personally find pockets to be a necessity on an apron. I always keep my cell phone on me, so I love to slip it in my apron pocket.

What a cute apron! I need a new apron badly! I do love pockets, because i like to wear mine while I clean and the I can fil the pockets with odds and ends (ie Legos and magnetics) that I find in one room that belong in another. That way I only have to make one trip to the toy room! By the way, I love the pears--so cute!

cute apron. I will be making an apron for a friend for christmas, but the christmas projects I'm really excited about are the upcycled dresses I'm making for my nieces.

cute cute!! I've thought about picking up that 'Lotta...' book a few times, but for $10...that's a steal! As far as Christmas projects go, I've thought about making my kids a play tent Do you know of any good links?? I've seen some ideas on ohdeedoh and etsy, but so far, I'm just winging it....

Cute apron! I like the pears. I still use the pockets on my aprons because I have a little little one at home and I'm forever taking things (petrified bits of old dinners that he finds shoved under the fridge...I swear I sweep and mop!) out of his hands/mouth and shoving them in the pocket until I can get to the garbage can.

This Christmas I'm making superhero capes for my nephews using pukingpastille's tutorial. I'm really excited to see how tey turn out!

Love the apron! I've used that pattern to make a few gifts in the past. I have no idea what I'm making for gifts this year! I'm getting ready for a craft show in early December, but my table is going to be pretty empty if I can't get my act together soon!

I totally love aprons with a nice big pocket. I tend to wear mine baking and have a tendancy to use a dishtowel as a hot pad, to secure a bowl, wipe my area/hands etc...so I usually have a dishtowel (or 2) hanging out of my apron pocket.

@ Bianca--I hope that if she finds a good tent she can pass on the info--i want to make some sort of easy set up fort/tent for my son for xmas this year--indoor use mainly...I did see a pattern/instruction somewhere, but now i need to remember where
@flicka--I made about 6 or 8 of those pukingpastille capes a couple years ago--super easy and totally cool--i used my serger and velcro for the closure. kids love them.
